Migalski holds picket of solidarity with Dashkevich and Statkevich

The office of member of the European Parliament Marek Migalski held a picket of solidarity with Zmitser Dashkevich and Mikalai Statkevich on December 10 as part of Freedom x 2 campaign.

MEP's assistant Anna Bialas told BelaPAN news agency, the event in front of the rector's office of the University of Silesia in Katowice on occasion of the International Human Rights Day. More than 100 people took part in the event. Students joined the campaign and took photos with portraits of political prisoners for a photo-petition. It is planned to create a photo collage and use it to make postcards, which will be sent to Belarusian political prisoners and their families.

Marek Migalski initiated the campaign Freedom x 2 in late October 2012.

Freedom x 2 is a campaign of solidarity with two Belarusian political prisoners – 2010 presidential candidate Mikalai Statkeivch and leader of Young Front international organisation Zmitser Dashkevich.

The website www.2free.eu was created for the campaign. The site contains information about Zmitser Dashkevich and Mikalai Statkevich, measures taken by the MEP and pickets organised by Migalski's office. The website also has a petition to the heads of the EU member states calling on them to remind about the persecuted and harassed Belarusian prisoners of conscience who face cruel treatment in jails.
