Employee sacked after payment delay

Andrei Papou from Homel, an activist of the organising committee to create Belarusian Christian Democracy party, has lost his job.

He was employed by Metallopolimer firm as a mechanic for a probation period.

“Our wages were delayed for no reason in late October. I told it to journalists and the information appeared on the Internet. The firm managers learned that it was I who said about the delay and chose to terminate employment relationships with me,” Andrei Papou said to Viasna human rights centre.

Metallopolimer firm produces polyethylene equipment, thermoplastic parts and non-standard metal structures.

Andrei Papou already lose job due to his active position. He worked at a woodworking enterprise where worst workers were displayed on the so called board of shame. The activist demanded to stop using this practice that insults human dignity. He was fired as a result.
