Rubinau: They don’t like our allied relations with Russia

The head of the Council of the Republic thinks that the assessment of the elections by the ODIHR OSCE observers was influenced by the allied relations of Belarus and Russia.

“The parliamentary elections in Belarus were held in correspondence with the Constitution and the international law, and we can’t agree with the assessment given by the observers of the ODIHR OSCE mission”, - the speaker of the upper house of parliament.

Besides Rubinau noted that in Belarus they “weren’t expecting any other assessment – we knew that the position of the ODIHR OSCE mission could be biased”.

We would remind that according to the preliminary report of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE the elections in Belarus were neither free nor impartial.
