An armed attack on Belarusbank office took place today in Minsk.

A tall well-built man from the Caucasus attacked cash-in-transit guards with a knife and took a bag with money. The robbery happened in Belarusbank office No. 510/10 on 12 Shalernaya Street.

A special operation to catch him was launched in Minsk, a reader of charter97.org reports.

The law-enforcement bodies confirmed this information to Interfax news agency.

Investigators are reported to think whether to open a criminal case. The suspect has not been detained yet. All police stations have received the all points bulletin.

The police don't say how much money was stolen, but add the sum is “not big”.

The bank however claims the robbery attempt was unsuccessful.

“There was a robbery attack committed by an unidentified person. The attempt was unsuccessful,” the bank press service informs. The bank prepares to release an official statement.
