Three “persons spreading provocative rumours which sow panic in Minsk” have been detained by the Belarusian security services.

An Interfax-Zapad correspondent learned this from the State Secretariat of the country’s Security Council.

“The three detained are residents of Minsk. They have been detained and taken to a detention facility for using Internet forums and social networks to spread deliberately false information about terrorist acts allegedly committed in the Belarusian capital, namely blasts of buses, cars and railway stations,” a source noted.

According to him, such rumours “have a purpose to sow panic and destabilizing the social and political situation in the town”. Secret service officers “have already identified ten more persons spreading deceitful information. Appropriate measures will be applied to them in the nearest time,” a representative of the Security Council’s State Secretariat said.
