Yury Karetnikau, the Right Alliance leader, was on hunger strike in the remand prison in Akrestsin Street in Minsk for 10 days.

The activist was detained on October 30 after participation in Dzyady procession. Human rights activists believed that Yury could be detained again after an administrative arrest as a suspect in a criminal case, however these suppositions had not confirmed.

We remind that just a few weeks before Yury Karetnikau had come back to Belarus after half a year absence related to the events of December 19, 2010.

As Karetnikau told to udf.by website, on October 8 the unknown people in masks visited him in the remand prison in Akrestsin Street. They demanded him to confess he had taken part in organizing the events of December 19, as well as in getting financing from abroad. The so-called “interrogation” was taking place with authorization of the administration of the detention centre.
