Oil on behalf of Venezuela

The Belarusian offshore oil industry under command of so called president continues looking for ways to bypass limitations on petroleum products exports.

Under Belarus-Russia arrangements, Belarus has the right to duty-free exporting petroleum products, which were produced from non-Russian oil. However, as Venezuelan Ambassador to Minsk Americo Diaz Nunez noted, Venezuela wouldn’t be able to produce 10m tonnes of Santa Barbara oil, which is demanded worldwide, for Belarus, as it was provided for by Belarus-Venezuela contract, BelTA reports.

“So, PDVSA oil company will purchase an additional amount of oil in Azerbaijan to ensure delivering up to 10m tonnes of oil per year to Belarus under the contract,” the ambassador told.

Belarus is to get the oil via Odessa-Brody pipeline paying Azerbaijan only for the delivery. “As you can see, both parties, especially Belarus, benefit from this kind of cooperation,” the ambassador thinks.
