  • 22.01.2011, 15:19

The Latvian Foreign Ministry has decided to introduce a simplified visa regime for citizens of Belarus, irrespective of possible EU sanctions against the leadership of this country.

Starting from January 24, citizens of the Republic of Belarus applying for long-term visas are exempt from state tax.

As was previously stated by Foreign Ministers of Sweden and Hungary, the EU may resume the entry ban for Alexander Lukashenko and a group of Belarusian officials. According to the EU, they are responsible for violence against activists of the Belarusian opposition during the presidential elections of December 19th.
