Prosecutor’s office sees no problem in preventing lawyers from visiting their clients (Video)

The Prosecutor’s office of Minsk finds the fact that lawyers are not allowed to visit the KGB prisoners, to be absolutely normal.

The deputy head of the corruption and organized crime control department of Minsk Syarhei Barysenka stated on air of ONT TV channel that “recently the Prosecutor’s office of Minsk did not receive complaints from the participants of the criminal proceeding against violation of the right for defence of detained, suspects and accused. However no violations of criminal procedure legislation concerning guaranteed right for defence for suspects and accused were found during studying the criminal casework. The norms of the Constitution and the procedural law are abided by exactly. Lawyers are offered to all persons detained in this criminal case as suspects, and their right for defence is respected by the prosecuting agency.”

We remind that lawyers of the presidential candidates Andrei Sannikov, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Mikalai Statkevich, of “European Belarus” coordinator Zmitser Bandarenka and journalists Iryna Khalip, Natalya Radzina, Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, have not seen their clients since December 29, 2010.
