The exhibition of the works of the winners of the contest “Press Photo Belarus 2010” was censored in Brest.

As “Salidarnasts” was said by representatives of the project, on Sunday, a few hours before the opening of the exhibition, the head of the local public and cultural centre removed several pictures from the category “People in the news”. The pictures had been made during oppositional protest rallies.

A picture of “Nasha Niva” photoreporter Yuliya Darashkevich, at which riot policemen were seizing a white-red-white flag from an activist of “Zubr” movement Mikita Sasim (Minsk, September 2005), and also a series of pictures of Reuters agency (Vasily Fedosenko) about the election-2006.

The both press photographers has occupied one of the top positions in the first contest of press pictures of Belarus (96 Belarusian photographers that work on the regular basis for national and foreign mass media).

Before that exhibitions of “Press Photo Belarus 2010” have been problem-free in Minsk and Hrodna, and also outside the country – in Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk, Lviv. In Brest the exhibition will be held till October 15.
