Lukashenka’s initiative group formed compulsorily

Maladzechna teachers are compulsory enrolled in the initiative group of candidate Lukashenka.

It is no coincidence that Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s initiative group had been headed by Education minister. During the elections the teachers are entrusted with an increased workload: most of polling stations are situated in the educational institutions, and teachers are to work in the commissions, to take part in outreach work and collect signatures. And they are not always doing that voluntarily. The website of the human rights organization “Viasna” writes.

As usually, every school received quotas from higher authorities, how many teachers should be sent to collect signatures for the needed candidate.

As said by the deputy director of one of Maladzechna schools, it was more difficult than before this year.

“Now the election is scheduled for the end of the academic term. It is always a very busy time in school. So “additional duties” for a teacher would be most unwelcome.

Besides, teacher feels sentiments of people more than any other person. So some of them confess that they would be ashamed to make door-to-door visits and ask parents to give a signature for Lukashenka,” she said.

It has taken a long time to persuade almost all, with the exception of those who occupy some positions in the Belarusian Republican Youth Union.
