Participants of Independence Day action in Belarus were fined

Judicial proceedings of political activists took place on August, 5 in the Court of Soviet District of Minsk.

The chairman of the organizing committee on establishing the movement of solidarity “Razam” Vyachaslau Siuchik, and also youth activists Nikolai Dzemidzenka, Andrei Kim and Katsiaryna Davydzik were found guilt according to Article 17.1 Administrative Offences Code (disorderly conduct), reperts BelaPAN.

The fines of Dzemidzenka and Davydzik made up three base amounts (105 thousand Belarusian Rubles). Upon Siuchik and Kim the fines of 10 base amounts (350 thousand Belarusian Rubles) were imposed.

On July, 27 the activists of the opposition intended to lay down flowers to the monuments to Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala and Maksim Bahdanovich, and also to read out verses of the poets near the sculptures of them. Approximately 30 people gathered at Y.Kolas square, where the action began. After the participants had laid flowers to the monument, five policemen came up to them and warned about responsibility for conduct of unauthorized arrangements. Some time later Siuchik, Dzemidzenka, Kim and Davydzik were apprehended with the use of force.
