This is considered by Ex-Deputy Minister of Russian Foreign Affairs, director of the fund Center of political research “Consulting” Andrei Fedorov.

The information war between Russia and Belarus may develop into economic war, if Alyaksandr Lukashenka refuses to participate in the informal summit of CSTO.

“If he does not come to Yerevan, ignores the CSTO summit, the degree of tension between our countries may considerably grow. If he is able to gather all his political determination to come and to use the CSTO tribune for delivering his view point, then another variant of development of the events may be possible”, - Fedorov declared in his interview to “Euroradio”.

The informal summit of CSTO will take place in Yerevan on August, 20-21. According to preliminary information, President Dmitry Medvedev is not planning to conduct a bilateral meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka. But Fedorov is sure, that, despite this, Lukashenka, may talk to him face to face, starting thus the process of improvement of mutual relationship between our countries. If the Head of Belarus is not going to Yerevan, the tension will further increase.

“I exclude entirely a variant with severance of diplomatic relations. But I cannot exclude a variant, in which the Belarusian part may take some measures of diplomatic character, which, at least, for Belarusian leaders will show the dependence of Russia on transit through Belarus”, - Fedorov considers.

At the same time, the expert supposes, that Belarusian leader will refuse of his trip to Yerevan.
