It is expected that the region may receive Russian gas through Latvia from midnight.

Supplies of Russian gas to Lithuania and Kaliningrad region through Belarus are reduced by 40% as of 5 pm Moscow time.

As Interfax informs, it was reported by Viktoras Valentukevicius, the chief executive of gas company Lietuvos Dujos.

According to him, gas flowed in normal mode until 1 pm Moscow time on Wednesday, but then some anomalies were recorded and gas supplies fell.

Valentukevicius stressed Lithuania was using gas from the pipeline on the territory of the country. “The connection with Latvia hasn’t been activated yet,” he added.

According to the company’s chief, importing gas from Latvia can be started after midnight.

It should be noticed that Russia’s Kaliningrad region receives gas through Lithuania.
