Lukashenka’s Swiss holidays have dragged on

Alyaksandr Lukashenka hasn’t returned from Switzerland, where he arrived on February 3.

“The president hasn’t returned yet, he stays in Switzerland,” BelaPAN was told by the spokesperson of president Lukashenka Pavel Lyohki.

On February 3 Lukashenka’s press-service informed that he went on a “working visit” to Switzerland. The terms of the visit was not specified. “The leader of the state is to meet with representatives of the business community and political circles of the country. The business part of the visit which is to last for the next few days, has been merged with short-term holidays,” the press-release informed.

On February 4 Pavel Lyohki informed that Lukashenka was to return “any day now”. He also noted that the press-service would inform about the results of the visit of the Belarusian leader.

The aim of Lukashenka’s voyage remains unknown. As stated by Andreas Gross, deputy of the Swiss Confederation and the PACE, head of the Social Democrats faction in the PACE, Lukashenka arrived to have rest. As said by the parliamentarian, the Belarusian leader has rest at one of Alpine resorts in eastern Switzerland.
