Belarusian MPs think EP “discriminates” them

Chairman of the “council of the republic” Barys Batura finds a position of the European Parliament on the so called national assembly of Belarus discriminating.

Bit was said today at a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Belarus Michel Raineri, BelTA informs.

“The resolution of the European Parliament stating the Belarusian parliament may become a full partner only after democratic elections can surprise, to put it mildly. We view such a discriminatory attitude towards Belarus as unlawful,” Barys Batura noted.

According to him, Belarus is seriously interested in the projects offered by the Eastern Partnership programme. “It seems to me that the French MPs and the French political quarters on the whole could influence this process taking into consideration their constructive and pragmatic attitude towards Belarus,” the speaker said.

We remind that EU officials say that, unlike other delegations, the Belarusian parliamentary delegation in the EURONEST should consist not only of the members of the illegitimate “national assembly”. If the authorities don’t agree with this, all ten seats will be given to representatives of the democratic opposition.
