Authorities are afraid of the voting on December 19. Lukashenka is losing

An independent expert in the field of electoral law Siarhei Alfer stated that high percentage of those who have voted early evokes suspicions of the desire to manipulate the election results.

He noted that early voting practice exists in most countries of Europe. In some countries it’s possible to vote by mail, including e-mail, in others, like in Belarus, people vote early.

“Usually, when people themselves come to the polling stations, their number is 1—2%, maximum 5%. If the figure of those who have voted early is more than 2 percent, this already raises questions. At the same time the percentage of those who have voted by mail can be 10-20%, as it’s very convenient”, Alfer said.

According to the expert’s words, early voting today is “the most manipulated way from a point of view of the possibility to replace ballots”. “Quite possible that the authorities want to get more acceptable elections results, then they would be according to the results of the main day of the elections”, Alfer noted.

Let’s recall that, according to the Central Election Commission, within the two days of early voting 7,2% of the electorate have voted.
