Reporters Without Borders issued an annual report on press freedom in the world.

Belarus has fallen three places to 154th among 178 world countries, shows Press Freedom Index 2010 published by Reporters Without Borders.

Belarus’s neighbours in the ranking are Thailand (153) and Swaziland (155). The media in Turkmenistan, North Korea, and Eritrea are considered to be the least free.

Belarus’s neighbouring countries have the following rankings: Russia is 140th, Ukraine is 131st, Lithuania is 11th (sharing this position with Denmark and Japan), Latvia is 30th (with Trinidad and Tobago), Poland is 32th.

Traditionally, northern European countries, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, have the highest rating.
