The Russian President started his observation of the Belarusian-Russian military exercises from an acquaintance with Lukashenka’s son.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Belarus on September 29 to observe the active stage of strategic exercises Zapad-2009.

The plane of the Russian president landed on the aerodrome of the 61st fighter base of the Armed Forces of Belarus, located in the Baranavichy district of the Brest region, BelaPAN reports.

Dmitry Medvedev will watch the drills together with his Belarusian colleague Alyaksandr Lukashenka and his small son Nikolay. As his father, Kolya Lukashenka wore military uniform with the Belarusian court-of-arms on the shoulder marks. Kolya wore a handgun holster with a golden pistol, which he showed to Medvedev.

The Russian president preferred civilian clothes – jeans and a leather jacket.

As RIA Novosti reports, when Lukashenka was introducing his son to Medvedev, the latter drew attention to the boy’s golden pistol.

“He hasn’t loaded it yet,” Lukashenka noted.

Medvedev asked if the boy liked the pistol.

“It’s a good pistol because it the Russian president presented it,” Lukashenka prompted his son.
