Vitaly Katsuba, former chief of the Vaukavysk militia department, says he has no claims to the detained entrepreneurs, and a case of arson of his house is closed.

Relatives of entrepreneurs Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau, and Uladzimir Asipenka, arrested in Vaukavysk on February 8, have met with former chief of the Vaukavysk militia department Vital Katsuba today. It should be reminded that according to an official version, the detainees are charged with arson of Katsuba’s house that took place in 2004.

As the Charter’97 press center has learnt, Vitaly Katsuba works as a director of the Vaukavysk printing house. He used to be head of the Vaukavysk militia department. Daughter of arrested entrepreneur Yury Lyavonau, Yulia, met with Vital Katsuba.

“The meeting lasted 5–6 minutes,” Yulia Lyavonava says. “We were interested if Vital Katsuba had filed a claim. He answered he hadn’t filed any claim or complaint. ‘I don’t need this,’ Katsuba said. ‘I have never seen Lyavonau.’ He also said the case of arson was closed long ago, and teh guilty person is serving his term of punishment. Katsuba was paid compensation. He said he had sent an appeal to the Vaukavysk court saying he didn’t have claims to the detainees and wouldn’t attend court proceedings. He said he didn’t need that mud.”
