The chairman of the Central election commission of Russia Vladimir Churov will take part in monitoring of the parliamentary elections in Belarus. The CEC chair Lidziya Yarmoshyna has told about that to journalists.

She reminded that in line with the agreement of the “union state” Russian citizens with a permanent resident card of Belarus, and Belarusian citizens who are resident citizens of Russia, can take part in the elections to local bodies of self-government as candidates. “Belarus has implemented this condition long ago. And in Russia it is followed in just a few regions”, Lidziya Yarmoshyna said.

As said by her, now on the initiative of the Central Elections Committee of Russia this norm will be in force universally. Belarusian citizens who permanently live in Russia would be able to take part in local elections as candidates at the territory of the whole country. This election is to take place in a number of Russian regions on October 12.

As we have informed, the Russian CEC head Vladimir Churov distinguished himself during the presidential elections of Russia, when the electoral campaign was carried out in favour of one candidate, Dmitry Medvedev. Churov is notorious by his phrase in an interview to “Kommersant”: “Can Putin be wrong?”
