Banks ready to close down their websites

The Draft Law on Media threatens the activity of bank websites.

Syarhei Skarakhod, head of Marketing.by Internet-project, said it during the First Open Forum of MArketologits held in Minsk on 19 June.

“Internet-resources will be the first to suffer from this clearly political, in my view, decision. I have information that a number of banks are going to close down their websites,” S. Skarakhod said.

According to him, information is regularly updated on a website of any bank, so, by the new law, they fall under the category of mass media. “In this case they will have to register, create a legal person, editor’s office and so on. They hardly will do it. In best case they will place static picture,” S. Skarakhod told.
