In an ‘inner circle’ Alyaksandr Lukashenka rewarded KGB officers for their “good work”. “I cannot say publicly for what the state awards are given to you. But I know perfectly well for what”, the Belarusian leader added.

“Rumours reached my ears that Lukashenka is allegedly dissatisfied with the work of the KGB. These are nothing but rumours, and the KGB should know what the source of this rumours is,” A. Lukashenka said, handing out awards to KGB officers.

“I have always respected this organisation, since my childhood and youth, and I respect it now. I have always believed that honest and “clean people work there,” the Belarusian president is quoted as saying by Interfax.

Besides, Lukashenka explained, why “awards are given to such a small circle of people”. “That’s because a wide circle of people shouldn’t see you”.

“I cannot say publicly for what the state awards are given to you. But I know perfectly well for what,” the Belarusian leader said.

As said by him, “if we would have more such people in our secret service, it will be a real secret service”.
