The sports complex “Nyoman” will be opened in Hrodna on June 12 with a match between veterans of the Belarusian association of football and a local team “Nyoman” (Neman).

The stadium was constructed in 1963 on the territory of the former Jewish cemetery. It was under reconstruction for the last 6 years. The reconstruction sparked a conflict between the global Jewish community and the National Olympic committee of Belarus, the European Radio for Belarus informs.

The dispute was reconciled by erecting a monument near the stadium to the Jews buried under it.

It is expected that Alyaksandr Lukashenka will be present at the opening of the sports complex which is the only in the country that has Mondo athletics sports flooring, stands for 10,000 spectator and a VIP-box.
