Andrei Kim to stay in prison

A court session has taken place in the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk on February 14. The court considered the issue of changing the measure of restraint for political prisoner Andrei Kim. Judge Valyantsina Svistun has adopted a decision to uphold the previous measure of restraint. It means that the political prisoner is to stay in prison until the trial.

The trial was held behind the closed doors. Despite of the fact that about 50 persons sent requests to release the political prisoner on personal surety. Among these persons are lawyers, politicians and human rights watchdogs, the UCP web site reports.

As we have informed, at the moment Andrei Kim stays in the remand prison in Valadarski Street. The young activist was detained during the protest rally of entrepreneurs on January 21 and arrested for 10 days. After serving an administrative arrest in the special remand prison in Akrestsin Street he was taken to the pre-trial detention center. The young person is charged with violation of Article 364 of the Criminal Code (threats or violent actions against policemen).
