Belarus will soon recognize independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Pavel Borodin, state secretary of the “union state”, thinks.

“The Belarusian parliament will consider the requests that we officially handed to Lukashenka. I think Belarus will formally recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia's independence,” Borodin told journalists in Moscow. The state secretary noted he didn’t hear any objections of the Belarusian side.

Borodin supported a perspective of South Ossetia and Abkhazia’s joining the “union state”.

At the same time, speaking about Russia-Belarus relations, Borodin said: “There are no crises in the relations between Russia and Belarus. We just have matters of dispute. It concerns the Constitutional Act, currency, energy economy balance.” In his view, it will take time to solve these issues in the difficult economic situation.
