The corruption case against Uladzimir Kholad, former first deputy head of the Presidential Administration's Main Ideology Office and head of the Ideological Work Coordination Office, has been sent to the Supreme Court of Belarus.

As a spokesperson for the Belarusian interior ministry told BelaPAN, Mr. Kholad’s case was sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office on September 19 and arrived in the Supreme Court on September 25.

Mr. Kholad, who is accused of large-scale fraud and incitement to bribe, has been held in custody since June 30.

Belorussky Partizan, an opposition online information source (www.belaruspartizan.org), reported on July 6 that Mr. Kholad had been arrested while receiving a bribe of $35,000.

He was relieved of his duties of a member of the central election commission by Alyaksandr Lukashenka's presidential edict on July 16.

The government has not announced when he was sacked from his post in the Presidential Administration.

Mr. Kholad formerly served as deputy chief of the Military Academy of Belarus.
