European Council follows 12 EU proposals on development relations with Belarus

The Council of Europe shares the position of the European Union on fulfillment by Belarus 12 conditions necessary for bilateral relations development, PACE Rapporteur on the situation in Belarus, PACE Vice-Chairperson, Andrea Rigoni declared the journalists in Minsk. “The aim of our visit is to study how the program on 12 conditions of the EU fulfillment is being carried out. In this connection, we have expressed our opinion, the opinion of the Council of Europe”, - A. Rigoni remarked.

He said “the cooperation means concrete steps which should have been taken together”. “My visit to Belarus is connected with the report on the fulfillment of these 12 points and presentation an objective picture of the situation in Belarus”, - the PACE Rapporteur declared. A. Rigoni explained he was interested in issues of “state of democracy, human rights observation, development of the cooperation between the authorities and all democratic institutions”.

It should be reminded that on the initiative of the civil society the European March took place in Minsk 14 October, its objective being the demonstration of the European choice of Belarusians and call to the authorities to accept 12 EU proposals. The initiative of organizing the European March was welcomed by the European Union leadership.

After the action the European March organizers declared they will be carrying out the campaign “European March” until the authorities accept 12 EU proposals.
